My Digital Assistant – iPlay4e
Continuing on from my previous post, I wanted to continue focusing on several great tools that I've come across that can help both Dungeon Masters and Players around the gaming table. As I stated in my previous post, the iPad is certainly a wonderful to have around the gaming table. There have been a couple of great apps and also web services that I've been using to get the most around my gaming table. This week's article is going to focus on two in particular, the iplay4e website.
IPlay4E Website
The iplay4e website focuses on doing a couple of things VERY well when looking at using the iPad around the gaming table. As a dungeon master, I can create and invite my players to a "campaign". This then allows me to upload the characters I've built within Wizard's DDI Character Builder and interact with them. I have mainly used this as a place for my players to keep tabs on where and how their characters are growing and the powers available to them. Also, as a player, I can manage my character from the iPad and make changes to my hit points, powers and other information about my character. Also, if I have a DDI account, I can login and review the powers and information associated with my character right on the iPad. The site even lets me manage both my powers and attacks based on the weapon and items I have in my character's inventory. All some very useful stuff as a player or a dungeon master when you think about it. The site also allows me to manage both hit points and healing surges, so that I as the player can go "paperless" with my character at the gaming table. It's a great tool and I am working on a more full length walk-through of the site to post shortly.
